Abstract

Fiana Y, Nurbani, Danial D. 2015. Study on the effectiveness of biological agent Beauveria bassiana and pod sleeving for controlling Cocoa Pod Borer pest in East Kalimantan. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 1222-1226. One attempt that can be done to address the control of the cocoa pod borer attacks on cocoa plantations in East Kalimantan is the use of biological agents and pod sleeving. Through this technology is expected to be able to decrease the percentage of attacks and increase the productivity of cocoa. This activity aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of Beauveria bassiana fungus and pod sleeving combined with environmental management in pest control particularly Cocoa Pod Borer (CPB) in East Kalimantan. This work was conducted in the village Barambai and Bayur, District of the North Samarinda, Samarinda, East Kalimantan. Assessment arranged in a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The results of the implementation of activities showed that pest control for CPB using pod sleeving is more effective to reduce the percentage of CPB pest (from 96.21% to 45%) and significantly different from the use of mushrooms Beauveria bassiana (from 95.71% to 80%) and controls. Treatment pod sleeving can increase the percentage of healthy pod that is from 3.55% to 55%.
