Abstract

Cibodas Botanic Garden (CBG) is a mountain ecotourism in the slopes of Mount Gede Pangrango, West Java. In addition to the educational ecotourism, CBG has also primary function as research institution and ex-situ plant conservation. CBG has 85 hectares areas that used to maintain plants collection from Indonesia and foreign since 1862. Besides collecting of live plants, CBG has the seeds collection that harvested from the plant collection, exploration activities around Indonesia, especially in the wet highlands or seed exchange between botanic gardens that stored in the seed bank. Among the seeds collection, there are some seeds that have unique and interesting, both in size or shape of morphology. The purpose of this study was to identify and inform the diversity of potential interesting seeds collection. The research method was carried out by survey method in the CBG seed bank and literature. The unique and interesting seeds were observed were Acer laurinum, Areca vestiaria, Arytera littoralis, Cinnamomum porectum, C. rhynchophyllum, Elaeocarpus angustifolius, E. pierrei, E. submonoceras, Lithocarpus indutus, Pachira aquatica, Symplocos costata and Tabebuia chrystoricha.
