The rural communities in Central Java, particularly in the Karanganyar Regency, still maintain houses with spacious yards, and many of them continue to implement agroforestry systems in their yards by planting seasonal crops beneath the canopy of trees, which are also utilized in their daily lives. The purpose of this study is to understand the use of yard plants with agroforestry systems by the communities in Berjo Village, Ngargoyoso Village, and Karangrejo Village, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Data collection was conducted through direct interviews using purposive sampling methods and field surveys. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. In this study, a total of 156 plant species from 60 families were identified in the home garden of the communities in Berjo, Ngargoyoso, and Karangrejo Villages. Among the 60 families, those with the most species usage were Araceae, Zingiberaceae, Fabaceae, Solanaceae, and Poaceae. The types of plants included 36.67% seasonal plants and 63.33% perennial plants. Out of the 156 species, 37 were used for medicinal purposes, 58 for food, 12 for seasoning, 81 for ornamental plants, and 13 for other uses such as animal feed and firewood. The highest use value for medicinal plants was Curcuma domestica. The highest use value for non-medicinal plants was Bougainvillea spectabilis as an ornamental plant, Musa paradisiaca as a food plant, and Curcuma domestica as a seasoning.
