Piper spp. is a pepper family that has about 8 genera members and 3000 species. Information about the diversity of Piperaceae in the lowland forests of South Sumatra is still very limited and it is necessary to conduct research into its existence. The method in this study is an exploratory method carried out by exploring the research area to find the population of the species Piper. This method includes inventory activities, identification, and characterization to support ex-situ conservation activities in the Sriwijaya Botanical Garden. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of Piper spp. in lowland forests of South Sumatra. The collection Piper obtained was conserved ex-situ in the Sriwijaya South Sumatra Botanical Garden. From the results of the study found 7 types of Piper. Of the numbers successfully collected 4 of them have been identified, including Piper acutilimbum C.DC., Piper betle L., Piper flavomarginatum Bl and Piper porphyrophyllum NEBr.
