Abstract

Abstract. Setiawan SD, Yuda IP, Hadiyan Y. 2019. Sandalwood provenance test (Santalum album) in Watusipat, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 5: 414-418. In Indonesia, Sandalwood (Santalum album Linn.) has been facing the population declining in the period of the year 1988-1998. For that reason, the Center for Forest Biotechnology and Tree Improvement Research and Development Yogyakarta has initiated to establish the ex-situ conservation (provenance trial) plot in Watusipat, Gunungkidul to protect the remaining its genetic resources. There were 5 sandalwood provenances conserved at Block A: Sumba, TTU, Belu, Rote, and Imogiri planted 2005. The research was designed at Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 4 provenances observed, 4x4 square plot, 4 replication with 3m x 3m spacing. This study was conducted to know the variation and the best growth of four sandalwood provenances tested. This research was conducted by calculating the survival rate and measuring several growth parameters (stem diameter, height, bole length and crown diameter). The results showed that the variation of survival, diameter, height dan crown diameter were significant different while bole length was not. Rote provenance was the best.
