This journal is a continuation of the Bioteknologi that was founded and published in 2004 by Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, published manuscript bilingually in English (US) and Indonesian (with English abstract). Since 2017, the name was changed to Bioteknologi, Biotechnological Studies, published by Society for Indonesian Biodiversity in collaboration with Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, and hosted by smujo.id.
