This journal is a continuation of the Biofarmasi (ISSN 1693-2242) that was founded and published in 2003 by Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, published manuscript bilingually in English (US) and Indonesian. Since 2017, it is published by Society for Indonesian Biodiversity in collaboration with Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, and hosted by smujo.id. English (US) is the only language used. The name of Asian Journal of Natural Product Biochemistry was first used in 2021.
